arthur rimbaud book cover
I think the problem with the packaging of the books of Rimbaud is that designers think of it as “old-fashioned” and use old photographs as if his writings are some stuffy, florid, Victorian verse, or some type of classic literature. The fact is, Rimbaud’s life was more akin to the writings of Henry Miller. I wanted to make a cover that would interest someone who hadn’t heard of Arthur Rimbaud enough to pick it up. I also wanted to hint at the backstory that caused him to write A Season in Hell in the first place.
Oh, and I drew the illustration, if you didn’t already know.
